Hi there!
I'm Fiona. I'm 25, live in Glasgow and am currently in my second year of a PhD in computational genetics.
When I'm not trying to work out my code, or screaming at a computer, I spend as much time as I can training in aerial circus. My discipline is the static trapeze, but I've dabbled a little in silks and other apparatus.
I started aerial in early 2013 by taking classes in aerial silks with Aerial Edge in Glasgow. In September that year I went to the Edinburgh Aerial and Acro Convention where I took a static trapeze class and fell in love. After a few months working on both apparatus I stopped the silks classes to focus solely on trapeze. I've also tried out others - flying trapeze (amazing fun, but problematic for the tendon in my elbow), hoop, rope, Chinese pole and teeterboard amongst others - but nothing entices me the way trapeze does.
In addition, I'm part of the newly formed Aerial Edge Performance Group. With our first performance due to happen 5 weeks after the groups inception, it should be an exciting ride...
Here I plan to document my training and development in aerial and other arts.
Outside of aerial I have eight rats and a pony, who lives with my parents in Glasgow - I'm sure they will be making appearances here from time to time!
